On the Slate for Paul O'Grady
Thursday 13th March 2008, streetwise Liverpool lass Faye Power visited Honister Slate Mine to record part of an episode for The Paul O'Grady Show. However, we don't think Faye was quiet prepared for what came next...
Mark kitted Faye up and drove her to the top of Fleetwith Pike. Once at the top then deep inside the mountain, Mark gave Faye some exciting news! Faye herself was going to light the fuse to blast out the slate from the mountain.

Setting everything up.
 Faye helped to assist Mark and Richard Greenwood (of Cumbria Tourism) light the fuse.

 After their successful blast the slate was brought down the mountain and into the factory.

It was then cut into sections and passed onto Martin, where he docked, rived & dressed the slate, ready for sandblasting.
Which produced the following unique roofing tile...
